CHAIRMAN'S REPORT ON 2008 BASILDON CHAMPIONSHIPS.

  Dear all,

 First of all I would like to thank all the players who played in the Championships this year, without you we would not have a tournament. I would also like to thank the people who do so much work getting the tournament organized: they are Linda Murray, Colin Clements, Vince Gurney and of course the person who sits at the control table all weekend trying to get the games played on time, Jayne Johnson. 

I would also like to thank Ken Field, the Chairman of the Southend & District Table Tennis league, for the loan of all the barriers and score machines.

 Congratulations to all the winners this year. I am sure you enjoyed the tournament, and to everyone else I hope you enjoyed the weekend  just as much.

 As you all know we had a slight problem with getting some of the games played on time. This was due to a few players who kept winning and it put us behind on other events. We have taken note of this and next year we are going to change the format slightly so this hopefully will sort out the problem in the future.

 The only other problem we have is that after the finish of games following the group stages, some losers do not stay behind to umpire the following game. This puts a strain on the tournament running to schedule so next year if the losers could help in this way it would greatly assist the running of the Tournament.
