Sunday events kicked off with the Handicap Singles which attracted an entry of 44 players. Linda Attridge always does well in tournaments and progressed to the final with victories over Malcolm Henstock, Andrew Crocker, Richard Bryant and an impressive 14,15 win against Richard Brown.

Dave Bassett, coping with a difficult handicap, was in superlative form, beating Mike Smith, Alan Wood, Anthon Ranjit-Singh, Glen Johnson and Marian Sochanic on his journey, narrowly winning this game 23-21 in the final end.

The final, unusually between two Premier players, saw Dave give a six point start to Linda, but his consistency proved too much for her and Dave was a worthy winner 21-14,21-19.

The Ladies' Vets Singles was a carbon copy of the Ladies' Singles, with Linda overcoming Gill Smith in three to take the title.

The Restricted Singles saw a number of very strong players from Divisions Two and Three competing, Les Tayler and Peter Pond being the two seeds.

Peter progressed to the final with wins against Richard Bryant, Robbie Wong and Ray Farmer, dropping just one game on the way. Les also dropped just one game in defeating Ken Fung and Brian Cooper. However he had a real fright against Marian Sochanic in the Semi-final, recovering from 9-6 in the fifth game to take the match 11-4,11-7,4-11,7-11,11-9.

The Final saw Les take the title. Although the games were close, he won 11-8,11-8,11-9.

The Vet's Doubles saw some tremendous table tennis played between 21 pairs of entrants. Kevin Caldon and Richard Brown looked hot contenders with wins in three against Adams/Cleasby, Lamb/Pang, and Bassett/Barker which saw them reach the final.

Gary Baker and John Poysden fought their way through to a showdown with Kevin and Richard, winning in three against Wood/Dyson then inching a victory 18-16 in the fifth over George Reeves and Babul McLeod. The semi-final was another tussle, Baker and Poysden coming through against Bill Smith and Stuart Gibbs 14-12, 14-16, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5. They continued the momentum into the final, where in spite of losing the first game 2-11, they took the next three 11-9, 11-8, 11-8 for a well deserved victory.
